Biomass Canada Cluster Webinar Series

“De-risking and commoditizing underutilized biomass resources:
Facilitating the evolving Canadian bioeconomy”

December 2020 – March 2021

With the growing global demand for low-carbon intensive bioenergy, biofuels and bio-products, access to a secure supply of affordable and sustainable biomass resources is the key to facilitate the evolving Canadian bioeconomy. Despite the abundance of biomass resources in Canada, they do not currently contribute to the production of biofuel and bioproducts in Canada and their use for bioenergy is very limited.

Led by the BioFuelNet Canada Network, the BioMass Canada Cluster aims to drive innovation and help improve technologies for producing, processing and distributing feedstocks from agricultural biomass, including waste material, which can then be used for production of low-carbon bioenergy and other bio-based products. The Cluster is comprised of 10 activities that seek to reduce production costs and increase yields for bioenergy, biofuels and other bio-based products by improving the production processes and technologies as well as increasing market opportunities for underutilized agricultural biomass resources by improving the supply chain practices. These activities are led by top researchers from Canadian universities in collaboration with specialized researchers from Agriculture and Agri-food Canada and industrial partners.

As part of its knowledge translation commitment and due to COVID-19 restrictions to hold in-person seminars and conferences, the BioMass Canada Cluster in collaboration with Biomass and Bioenergy Research Group (BBRG) at UBC are organizing a webinar series from December 2020 to March 2021. The principal investigators of each activity and their industrial partners will present the progress in their activities and the contribution of their research to the evolving Canadian bioeconomy.

The webinar series schedules, the list of speakers and presentations and the registration links are in the title of each event.

Please register as soon as possible as space is limited. All webinars are free of charge.
